Description
This is by far and away the best sounding, best playing and best in show J-160E we’ve come across…and we have had several. She actually sounds full, rich, piano-esq and articulate unplugged…not quite what you’d expect at all !!!! Plugged in she’s a beaut…sustains forever with original electronics, tuners, knobs, frets and hard shell case (OHSC).
The action is low with a dead straight neck and effortless to play…all the way up the fingerboard. Masterfully set up for the most discerning player. The string height above the rosewood board is exactly 3/32nds at the 7th and the 12th fret…yes you heard correctly. See pictures…
The stunning work that was completed many years ago to duplicate John’s…without the art…is hard to put into words, its that good. If I didn’t know better I would swear it came out of the Gibson factory in 1964 like this. I will tell you, the old growth mahogany back and sides and neck along with the spruce ply top opened up sonically like no other J-160E.
This guitar rings out like the best of the best acoustics…unplugged! Plug her in and get ready to rock ‘n roll. Need I mention it’s a dead ringer with John’s … same year and exactly the same satin finish.
Pricing was a tough one…I will be the first to admit. Non original finish has to be factored in…so I took the average price of the five (5) gorgeous originals from the same year (give or take one year) that are listed elsewhere and divided by two…50% less in other words.
Original hard shell case with key…all included.
